Lauren Smyth (she/her)

I’m a DPhil student in Mathematical Physics at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. My research focuses on scattering amplitudes, particularly their geometric and (ambi)twistor structures and their connections to positive geometry and combinatorics. I’m from Dublin in the Republic of Ireland, and completed my undergraduate degree in Theoretical Physics at Trinity College Dublin before completing the Perimeter Scholars International master’s programme at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Canada. Outside of mathematics, I enjoy going to the theatre and playing the violin in orchestras around Oxford.

Alba Gonzalez Gonzalez (she/her)

I’m a DPhil student in Mathematics at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. My research focuses on geometric group theory, particularly one-relator products of left-orderable groups and finite dimensional amenable groups. I’m from Spain and completed my master’s degree at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Before that, I obtained my undergraduate degree in Mathematics at the same university, including a year abroad at Sorbonne Université in Paris. Outside of maths, I play the saxophone and love learning about musical traditions from around the world! I also enjoy spending time in nature and going for runs.

Ellen (she/her)

Hi there! I’m Ellen, a DPhil student in Mathematics at the University of Oxford. I work in the fascinating field of topological data analysis. I did my undergraduate studies at Imperial College London. Outside of maths, I enjoy figure skating and board games!
