Candice (she/her)

Hi! My name is Candice, and I’m studying a BSc in Physics with Astrophysics. I’m deeply passionate about all things science, especially space.

At university, I have been elected as President of the Women+ in STEM Society, where I will help to connect students with opportunities and events that celebrate diversity in STEM. Outside of my studies, I love to read, and I am particularly keen on aviation and coding.

I’m excited to continue building a career in STEM and hope to inspire others, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, to pursue their ambitions with confidence.

Yamuna

Hello! I’m Yamuna and I’m studying at Hull York Medical School. I’ve always been passionate about human rights and inclusivity, having presented to my local council about LGBT discrimination in sixth form, setting up a medics BSL society at University of Hull, and now being part of this initiative to include underrepresented genders in STEM fields!

While studying medicine is becoming increasingly popular with women, senior medical positions and fields such as surgery are still heavily dominated by men. By being part of this initiative, I hope to increase awareness and opportunities for women+ in such fields.

Bhoomi (she/her)

I’m Bhoomi Shah, a BSc student in Physics with Astrophysics. I was Student Ambassador for ONCAMPUS Hull, which has given me a great chance to connect with new students and share my own experiences. Outside of academics, I care deeply about giving back. Through Vidhya Daan, I’ve volunteered by offering free tutoring to economically disadvantaged students, helping them access education and build confidence in science. I’m also a Food Waste Hero with Olio, working to reduce food waste and support sustainability in my community. By studying physics — especially astrophysics — I’m excited to keep exploring the universe through science, and to keep making a difference both inside and outside  the  classroom.
