This position is now closed.
Could you be the next Piscopia Co-Lead! We are on the look out for a new co-lead/s to join Victoria, Kaitlyn, Xell and Anastasia, as Rosie will be stepping down in the Summer.
Being a co-lead is incredibly rewarding and we’d love to have you on the team. You have the opportunity to meet with loads of great people and to really make a difference in the maths community. There’s also the opportunity to gain great experience in event organising, grant writing and communication (along with lots of other great stuff!).
The sorts of jobs that you could be involved in include:
Event Coordination
- PiWORKS – contacting speakers, coordinating local watch parties
- PiFORUM – conference organisation and all the things that come with that!
- Local Event Coordination – keeping in touch with local committees, supporting them and offering advice on running events, drafting promotional emails etc
Promotion
- Communicating opportunities to our mailing list
- Creating promotional material for our social media about events/opportunities
- Resource creation (e.g., Mathematician of the Month, Pro-Tips, “How to: Ace your PhD Application” booklet – see our blog https://piscopia.co.uk/blog-feed/)
- Website maintenance
- Merchandise (stickers/jumpers etc)
Finances
- Keeping track of Piscopia’s finances
- Seeking out new funding opportunities
Collaboration
- Seeking out new initiatives/businesses to collaborate with and maintaining previous collaborations.
- Speaking to students and seeking to start new local committees.
We are happy for people to take on specific roles, or to be flexible within them. Our current approach is for each co-lead to be responsible for a few of the local committees and then the other jobs we can fit around our individual schedules. The role can be what you make it, and we’re very happy to hear people’s ideas about how we could take Piscopia further. The level of time commitment changes throughout the year and ideally we have several co-leads so that the workload is shared. As always, your degree comes first, and co-lead roles can be flexible around this! You will have plenty of support from the other co-leads too who are experienced in all things Piscopia.
If you’d be interested in becoming a co-lead and would like to know more about the role, please get in touch with us and we’d be happy to chat more.
To apply, we ask for applicants to write approximately 250 words on why they think they would be suited to this role. The deadline for applications is 30th April.
Best wishes,
The Piscopia Co-Leads
