Info: Vacation Scholarships in Mathematical Modelling, Analysis and Computation

We were asked to circulate the information below.

As part of the CDT on Mathematical Modelling, Analysis and Computation (, Heriot-Watt University and the University of Edinburgh are now advertising 4 undergraduate vacation scholarships in Mathematical Modelling, Analysis and Computation

The scholarships are available to any undergraduate student not in the first or final year of their degree, and will give the student an opportunity to experience what it is like to work with mathematics in a research environment. Recipients of the scholarship will spend 6 weeks in Edinburgh during June-July 2020, working on a research project at Heriot-Watt or Edinburgh University. The scholarship pays £240 per week. Students will have to arrange their own accommodation if required.

Supporting the London Mathematical Society policy on vacation scholarships, we encourage applications for these bursaries from women, disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as these groups are under-represented in UK mathematics.

To apply for these scholarships, please send an email to Dr Aretha Teckentrup at a.teckentrup – at – by March 1st 2020, with:

  • a current transcript of your grades.
  • a short motivation for applying for a vacation scholarship, together
with your preferred area of research within modelling, applied analysis
    and computation (max 150 words).

For any queries, please contact Aretha Teckentrup at the email address given above.
