I’m Monse Guedes Ayala (she/her). I was born in Cuba, but raised in the sunny Canary Islands, Spain. I did my undergraduate in Philosophy and Mathematics at The University of Edinburgh, and then continued doing a PhD on optimization applied to energy and machine learning. In my spare time I enjoy sports, travelling, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Hola! I’m Xell (she/her). I was born and raised in between the Pyrenees and the Catalan coast, but I did my undergrad in Maths and Biology in Edinburgh and Montreal. I then moved to Oxford to do a Masters in Maths, and I’m now back in Edinburgh for my PhD (MAC-MIGS). When I’m not doing maths, I’m likely to be found hiking, swimming in the sea or cooking with friends.

Hi, I’m Rachel (she/her). This is
my 2nd year on the University of Edinburgh Piscopia committee. I graduated from Edinburgh in 2021 with a BSc in Mathematics and Biology, and I am currently working as a Research Assistant in a lab at the university which studies stochastic gene expression in bacteria. I am currently applying to PhD programmes. In my spare time I enjoy spending time outdoors and horse riding.
